Christian thoughts on the power of healing

the lady who was the Camp Director asked me if I would pray for the young boy. I agreed to. I have always been rather reluctant to publically pray prayers of healing because I have always said that God never gave me the gift of healing. Yet on that occasion I felt the Spirit of God very near. I laid my hands on the little boy's head and I prayed for him. I asked the Lord to heal him. I asked the Lord, the Great Physician, to strengthen his legs and enable him to walk. In my prayer I claimed James 5: 13-16 and thanked the Lord that He would heal Him. When I finished I opened my eyes and saw no difference in the boy. In fact the rest of the weekend he still crawled all over the camp ground. I felt defeated and very sad. But God was not finished. God heard my prayer and the prayers of the others that afternoon .In His time He was bringing Hus healing. A few weeks after the camp the parents took the boy to see a specialist at Children's Hospital. This was for his annual check up. When they took the boy into see the doctor the doctor said the tests proved the boy's muscles were developing and within a few weeks he was able to walk. Praise God He answered our prayers. God is in the Healing business.

Thus, throughout my life I have had this on going angst about healing. Many times I did not want to believe it, but so often God has shown me that He does continue to heal today. He has given me the joy and honor of being involved in a number of these healings. For that I am most grateful. Mark 16: 15-18 has Jesus saying "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe, "In my Name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues, they will take up serpents and if they drink anything deadly it will be no means hurt them, but they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover! Praise God. After over thirty eight years of ministry I have seen the signs and the wonders. I have experienced all Jesus spoke about except for the snakes and drinking poison. I have cast out demons in Jesus name, I have spoken in new tongues, and I have laid hands on the sick and they have recovered.
I believe there is power in healing. I believe the Lord does heal and He wants to heal. There is so much more I could say about it but perhaps I can best bring my thoughts to a close by sharing some ideas I recently read in the Book
