Christian thoughts on the power of healing

God is in the healing business. Exodus 15:26 records God saying " If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statues , I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you." The Lord is the One who heals.
Many other passages in the Scriptures declare God is into healing. Isaiah 58: 8 says: Then your lights hall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily and your righteousness shall go before you. The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard." Psalms 107:20 relates "He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." The well known Isaiah 53 passage declares in verse 5, "But He was wounded for our transgression, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed." The Lord Jesus Christ is the source of salvation and also healing. Psalm 103:1-3 "Bless the Lord O my soul, and all that is within me bless His Holy name. Bless the Lord O my soul, and forget not all of His benefits. Who forgives all your iniquities, and heals all your diseases."

The New Testament records numerous examples of physical healings. The blind were given sight, the deaf were made to hear, the lame could walk and leap, and those suffering from many other diseases such as leprosy, and issues of blood. People were healed when they were touched by Jesus. In the Book of Acts the Apostles continued the Healing Ministry with people being healed from all kind of diseases.
The Book of James encourages Christ Followers to be involved and pray for Healing. Chapter 5: 13-16 says, "Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the Church and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much."
Down through the centuries God has been healing people. I grew up in the Church and in my younger years I often doubted the reality of Divine Healing. I use to believe that the spiritual gift of healing stopped in the Apostolic Age. It was operating in the time of
