Poetry: Reasons

There are reasons to be around,
Living on this Earth -
Reason for pleasure and pain
Originating with birth;
Reason for silence and sound,
Assessment of value and worth
Of all things we maintain;
Reason for giving and taking;
Being honored or losing face
When breaking a rule of law,
Possibly falling from grace;
Reason for rationally making
Peace, yet keeping in place
The likelihood of war.

Life is ne'er out of reasons,
Nor Time e'er out of steam,
Accentuating the reality of
Each precious vision and dream;
There being reasons for all seasons
We must live through and esteem
In terms of life's totality.
