Let's face it: some guys like chick flicks. Not all chick flicks, most still try to avoid the super sappy tear jerkers. However, there are some awesome movies out there that a lot of guys avoid (and shouldn't) because they bear the "chick flick" label.
NOTE: These movies are not in rank order.
1. When Harry Met Sally: Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan at their best. This movie is full of jokes and humor as well as romance.
2. The Princess Bride: If you haven't seen this, you're missing out. This movie is an action/comedy disguised as a chick flick. This movie has some great stars in it as well to include Billy Crystal and Andre the Giant. I guarantee you'll like this movie.
3. A League of Their Own: Yes, it's a movie about a women's baseball team...and yes...it's a great movie. If, of course, you can handle Rosie's acting. Favorite part: When Tom Hanks signs a kid's baseball hat with "Avoid the clap." Classic.
4. First Knight: First off, Sean Connery is awesome. This movie is another action film disguised as a romance. Romance is central to the story line, but there are plenty of great action scenes that make the movie worth watching. The storyline is great and will honestly keep you interested and involved.
5. Hitch: Very funny. Even if you aren't a huge Will Smith fan, he will make you laugh in this movie. Great plot and ending. I haven't talked to a guy yet who didn't like this movie.
6. You've Got Mail: Alright, for those of you who haven't seen it, I'm sure have your doubts about its quality, but it is an enjoyable movie (as long you can handle Meg Ryan). I mean, come on, it's based on a Jimmy Stewart movie.
7. Love Actually: I really like this movie, and you will too. It also features a large cast of well known stars. I guarantee one of your favorite actors is in there somewhere.
8. 10 Things I Hate About You: For younger guys, but a great movie.
9. Serendipity: This is another movie a lot of guys wouldn't pick up unless they were with their significant other...but they should. Give it a try.
If you are into deeper movies:
10. The Notebook: I watched it and liked it. I know most guys will roll their eyes at the suggestion that they will enjoy this movie, but give it a shot. Just avoid watching it alone...or at least don't tell your friends you watched it alone...
If I lead anyone astray with this list, I apologize. However, I think most guys, even those who typically don't like chick flicks, will appreciate and enjoy these films.
