rack, you have a few other options. If it is warm and sunny outside, then place your shoes in a sunny area and let the sun do all the work.
You can also sit them next to a heat or air vent inside. This will take a little longer, but if you leave them overnight, then they should be dry by morning.
Another option is to use a hair dryer. This takes a little more effort, but if you're needing to wear your shoes in a hurry, then this is the only way. When using a blow dryer, remove the laces and open the shoes up as much as possible without damaging them. Blot any excess water with a clean towel. Press firmly on the entire inner areas of the shoes to remove as much water as possible. Next, using a medium heat, use the blow dryer in a sweeping motion from the inside front to the inside back of the shoe. You don't want to hold the blow dryer in one spot for too long because you don't want to damage the uppers.
If you're in a desperate hurry, then I do have another method that might sound a little silly, but it sure does work. I take a couple of extra pairs of thick socks and put them on in two layers, then I put the wet shoes on and walk around for a couple of minutes. The socks absorb a majority of the water, then it only takes a few minutes with the blow dryer to finish the job.
I do not recommend putting your shoes in the dryer to tumble. It is too rough on both the shoes and your dryer drum.
