Poetry: Loneliness

Solitudo

O' that my eyes could pour out,
Endless rivers of tears,
Making the seas roil and roar,
And all upon them to fear!

That I might sunder mountains,
With heaving, sobbing cries,
Rend the clouds in ragged shreds,
Or bat the sun from the skies!

To what end useless desire?
Has compassion truly flown?
Is pain, grief, and solitude,
To be my lot alone?

O' please sweep me away upon,
The eternaly racing wind,
Or cut me down in merciful death,
For a swift, painless end!

I long for solicitous darkness,
Devoid of thought or plan,
For all hope is dashed and gone,
I've failed on every hand!

I seek to leave this life where,
Empathy and respect have died,
Where true love does not exist,
Care and mercy is but a lie!

Set me adrift in the formless void,
Removed from emotion and thought,
Blissfully unaware of this life,
Full of hurt and anguish fraught!
