Rosewood, Spruce and Steel 2008
One step, two step, three step, kicking Three chord, twelve bar, finger picking Tapping time and playing very hard With my finger slide and a Hohner harp I played the blues and I was sharp On my rosewood, spruce and steel six string guitar
I had never been to Memphis Chicago, Nashville, or Austin Texas I never even learned to drive a car I could not afford to buy an airline ticket But I had my guitar and I could really pick it My rosewood, spruce and steel six string guitar
Big town, small town, uptown, downtown No left, no right, no up, no down City lights and dark nights with no stars I was hoping, praying and really 'wishin' That the whole world would be 'listenin' To my rosewood, spruce and steel six string guitar
Red lights, blue lights, spotlights, cop lights Back streets, back seats, back room, hot lights Playing for tips and drinks in a sleazy bar I missed my home and my front porch swing All my friends and the songs that we'd sing On my rosewood, spruce and steel six string guitar
Left hand, right hand, "look ma no hands" Big hand, small hand, fast hand, slow hand It really doesn't matter who you are I've got some things to say and I'm gonna say them I wrote some songs and I'm gonna play them On my rosewood, spruce and steel six string guitar
One way, their way, my way, no way So I headed out to the highway And stuck my thumb out at the passing cars I lost my money, but I found my senses And I went back home to those picket fences With my rosewood, spruce and steel six string guitar
My goals and aspirations now are For fame that's longer than a quarter hour Not every spotlight has to shine upon a star Sometimes later is just as good as sooner For an up and coming guitar picking, crooner And my rosewood, spruce and steel six string guitar
