Is the Bible trustworthy?

by Ken Alexander

Created on: August 16, 2008

This a very difficult question to answer to the satisfaction of those who are not spiritual. We cannot understand the Bible without first believing that it is the inspired word of God. That is the beginning of spiritually. Intellectually it is a confusing book, filled with mentally created inconsistencies, having been re-written many times in many different languages and reminiscences consistent with the fairy tales we grew up reading. Many, many scholars have written many volumes interpreting the Bible but it is obvious that having a high education in religion does not mean you understand God or His Word.

The world is full of religions each having a different slant on God, what He requires and what He does. Are there many Gods, a different God according for each interpretation? People are right when they say religion is a farce, a promise of eternal security by those who can't give it, dominated by commercialism and egotism, each with a collection of doctrines (do's and don'ts) that they think God wants. In the Bible Apostle Paul says this about religion:

Speaking of the false prophets and Apostles he says:
"For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds" (2 Corinthians 2:13-15).

Most do not believe in Satan but if they do his angelic name was Lucifer meaning "light bearer" and "the bright morning star" (see Isaiah ch. 14). Religion is a perversion and the opposite of what Christ taught, and one of the most effective tools of deception Satan has. Christ was not a religion.

So what is spiritually? The only way to answer that question, to the unspiritual, is that it is a realm, like the human realm, with its own laws. The fact we can't see it with our natural eyes causes us to disbelieve it. Humans want things just so. They believe that if they attempt to walk through a door, they will be knocked over. The same is true in the Spirit realm, where God lives. Sin is death, the Spirit is life; a different set of laws..

As to people who do not believe is or see the spirit realm, Paul had this to say:
"But a natural man [literally an unspiritual man] does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised [examined]. But
