With Tropical Mania the goal is to create a 5 star luxury beach resort. The point of the game is to service your patrons as fast as possible to achieve the best score possible. The faster you can service them the higher your score will be. When I first loaded this game it started me off in a tutorial mode which in my opinion is a good way to start off any game, it allows the player to learn the basics before being tossed into the frenzy of actual game play.
The game is relatively simple; the only thing you really have to worry about is making your customers happy as soon as possible. The guests are pretty demanding and the amount of time it takes you to service them depends on the tips that they will give you which in turn allows the player to upgrade his or her resort as they see fit. You can build ice cream parlors and food stands as well as other bungalows for your guests to say in, which increases the size of your resort. Once you reach a 5 star rating the level is over and then the score really begins. The faster you are, the better your score. What I would like to see from Tropical Mania is a more involved multiplayer aspect so that you may test your skills against other people around the world rather than focusing on servicing non-player characters.
The graphics in the game are nice, a little cartoony, but overall they are still good looking although the graphics do not change very much. All of the bungalows where the patrons stay are the same; the only other difference is that the other buildings change, such as the different services you can provide. In the beginning the sound is good, but as you play more and more the music gets a little repetitive and I ended up listing to music stored on my computer rather than the in-game music. The game play is rather easy as I have stated, the game only depends on how fast your reflexes are, but it is very addictive. I played Tropical Mania over and over again to see if I could beat my high score and make my patrons happier each time.
Overall, I would recommend Tropical Mania to anyone looking for a fast paced addictive simulation game. This game deserves to be played by everyone and I would have to rate it a 5/5 for the ingenuity of the game play and the overall appeal of the game. I had a wonderful time playing this game and I hope to see more exciting titles from the developers of this title.
