Recipes: Easy dips

-Low Fat Dip, Spread, Cream Cheese and Sour Cream Substitute-

This is truly great and a dieters dream. I can't remember where I got the idea, I think it may have been online somewhere. All you need is Low Fat plain yogurt (I prefer organic and the plus is low fat yogurt lasts way longer than regular organic yogurt), cheese cloth, a strainer and a bowl.

Line a strainer with cheese cloth, then put strainer over a bowl. Pour yogurt into strainer, then place the bowl and strainer in the fridge. Drain for several hours to overnight.

*The plain drained yogurt is a great substitute for sour cream or cream cheese.

If you want, add spices, herbs, or fruit to drained yogurt for a yummy dip or spread.

Try pureeing strawberries and drained yogurt for a fruit cream cheese spread on bagels.

Mix in some garlic and italian seasoning for a hearty spread or dip with Italian flare.

The possibilities are endless and if you are hurting for ideas, stop by your local bagel shop to get some inspiration from their spreads.
