everywhere. They are there in processed foods, in hotel foods, in over the counter drugs. Many sports people take them deliberately. Some by mistake. Others, especially the subcontinental people, because of being ignorant. Some succumb to cultural practises, some to peer pressure, some to aged mothers and aunts, who just must give a dose of just the thing that will make your sinus attack' go away (Shane Warne, I think, though I'd like to look it up). So it's tough being a pro, a sports man and a family man at the same time. But if you value your principles soundly, you won't find it difficult to put sports on a high pedestal and your natural humility and conviction will not make you sound rude or edgy.
Nowadays there are many fan clubs that have fans who have gone through the mill of embarrassment. They however react badly. They act violent with those who criticize their idols. They support the idol, come what may, even if he's in the wrong and is guilty of gross misconduct. You should join a fan club, that really wants to help their star' out of trouble. If he is poor, old, sick, or if he's still playing but needs a fair trial. They will go all out for him. They will start fund raisers, campaign, to clear his name. That is the correct attitude.
People pulling down the shutters when he's walking by, walking out of functions, if he's present there, avoiding him like HIV, not inviting him to functions, ceremonies, not mentioning the stars he has won for the nation, not mentioning his playing style and techniques to youngsters who would benefit from such tips... such people are really what they are acting out to be - small. Don't be like them. Be great. Be a Superhitter. Don't be doped, that's the human side. Do be a master batsman, that's the professional side. Who's stopping you?
