What is etiquette? According to "Random House Webster's College Dictionary" etiquette is in short, a code or requirement to proper social or ceremonial and or ethical professional behavior. So, what is the proper etiquette in having a one-night stand? This thought at first baffled me, but thinking back to my own experiences and talking to others, there is certainly protocol to one-night stands and the etiquette varies upon situation. The situations that causes one-night stands to have variable change is whether both parties are single or in a relationship, and what is liked and disliked. However, whether you agree with one-night stands or not there is definitely etiquette to it.
Let's talk about being polite! When I say polite I'm not talking about opening the car door. I'm talking about the conversation before the action. Everybody knows that the first attraction is physical. So the conversation most likely will become sexual if sex is on both minds. Before I get into that, first make sure you know your one-night standee's name and vice-versa, it makes the night easier. Make sure your using the proper name and not someone else. I also believe that the partakers should know if they are in a relationship with someone. It will stop though awkward moments, if you were to run into the person you had a one-night stand with, while out with your significant other. It also brings that understanding that it's just a fling! While others like, "the don't ask don't tell" method for the simple fact that they just don't care. Now as for the sexual conversation, it is important to know what the person likes, such as favorite position, the rhythm they like fast or slow, and what type of sex they get the most pleasure from. Not knowing how the person wants it can create a very, very bad experience.
Must You Stay Over? It could go both ways. If your not really interested I suggest you leave, but if you are interested or highly aroused by this person, do your thing and stay, unless you have someone waiting for you at home. Many prefer for the person to leave some prefer one-night stand cuddling. Just ask would they like you to leave or stay but ultimately it's up to you! If the sex was bad leave and if you stayed and did it again, and it was still bad, cut all ties and bounce! Understand that it's a one-night stand. Watch Boomerang with Eddie Murphy. Most people sneak out while their partner is sleeping because do not want conflict with their partner asking of why he or she won't
