Poetry: You found a way

by Ava St. Clair

Created on: August 15, 2008

Sister, sister do not cry
Do not stop to ponder why
Look at all you have lived through
Despite the harm that was done to you

Step aside the pain and guilt
Survey the life that you have built
Recognize and embrace the pain
With the inner strength that has kept you sane

You did not crumble or fall apart
But held on tight and made a fresh start
You are a deserving and worthy person
Welcome this light, draw back the curtain

Sister, sister do not cry
Walk with your glowing crown held high
For you have overcome a vicious assault
That was unjust and not your fault

Sister, sister do not cry
Let the past fade and say goodbye
For you've survived and have moved on
Blessed with a will that makes you strong
You cannot change a history
That has caused you much misery

Sister, sister do not shed a tear
For there is nothing left to fear
Welcome each and every new day
No matter what may come your way
