Online or Traditional - A Degree is a Degree.
Now, more than ever, earning a degree can mean the difference between a job and a career. Recent highschool graduates are challenged to jump into the college pool. Older people are challenged to return to college to finish degrees. A degree should help increase a worker's earnings exponentially over a lifetime. The problem is, many people must work and raise families. Their responsibilities make college campus courses an impossibility. Thus, the dream of a degree remains out of their grasp.
Distance education and online degrees were invented for just this reason.
Distance learning is a practical way to reach educational goals. It is now possible to work days and log on to college courses during evenings and free time. In this online venue, the campus has been replaced by the home. Distance courses eliminate gas expenses, free up time, and allow students to work - comfortably and productively - from the comfort of their own living rooms. This can mean the world to some. A housewife, for instance, can raise her children and still pursue her degree. A technician can work a steady shift and still take college courses in the comfort of his own apartment. The trend toward offering online degrees has grown, because there is a huge demand for such programs.
New "online universities" have sprung up, offering legitimate Bachelors and Masters degrees. But many established traditional universities are also offering distance learning options. A plethera of courses are available online. And these courses count! They count toward online degree plans and affect your GPA, just like any other class. In fact, most colleges do not differentiate between online or traditional (on campus) degrees. As long as the online courses you take fulfill your degree requirements and are recognized by your college or university, then they are treated no differently than any other course.
It is no secret that most employers are interested in candidates who have a college degree. These employers care about the field of the degree and the candidate's grade point average. They do not care about whether a degree is earned online or by traditional methods, because both require the same level of study and effort. And both produce the same level of expertise. In short, a degree is a degree is a degree!
Financial Aid is available for online degrees, which is very helpful. Online degrees can be as expensive or even more expensive than traditional degrees - it appears that students are only too happy to pay for the convenience factor. Online degrees yield transcripts and diplomas just like any other degree. And online degrees are every bit as valuable, as long as the issuing college or university is accredited.
Fortunately for the hundreds of thousands of students who attend college via an online program, their degree is legitimate, recognized and respected around the globe
