If you're like me you have seen or read lots of books on dieting and weight loss. One thing that seems inescapable if you're a human being is the need for exercise. Whether you like it or not, whether you are hoping to avoid it or not, because you are a human being, you need exercise. So, this article won't focus much on diet, but will focus on exercise. You should have a great diet, too, but that's not the focus here, so you'll have to do some more reading.
Every day you are one day older. Sorry. Just stating facts here. So, for those who think that they are "maintaining" their health or weight situation, that's highly unlikely. Your overall health or weight might seem the same, but you are one day older than yesterday - every day! You are either getting a little better or worse every day. I urge you to stop thinking about "maintaining" your situation and start thinking about improving - every day! In fact, it's important to do more than think! Let's do it!
Focus on what you're doing every day. You can also refer to this as being "conscious" about what you're doing. Instead of just floating [or charging] unconsciously through your life doing what you've been doing, start paying attention to what you are doing. The best way is to start writing down the exercise that you're getting and what you're doing that is new, different, extra or more. Actually, extra isn't the best word here because our program or system or method includes the idea that we're going to do a little more every day. So "extra" is part of the deal!
There is a term that you should definitely know. Body Mass Index or BMI. You can look up the particulars, but this number is an important measurement of your weight relative to your height. [Have you heard that old joke about not being overweight but undertall?!] I went to Calculator.com to multiply my body weight by 703.1 and then divide that by my height in inches. Then I divided that number by my height in inches again. So, someone, [and I'm not saying who] is 275 pounds and 6 feet, 2 inches tall. That means that 275 times 703.1 divided by 74 [inches] and then divided by 74 again is 35.3. Your Body Mass Index should be between 18.5 and 24.9, so this person [whoever they are] has some work to do. The good news is you have a goal to shoot for - Body Mass Index of 24.9, but not below 18.5.
Let's get some more measurements so we have multiple goals. What do we measure? Well, you'll want to get naked and have a friend help. Measure your waist, hips,
