The best places for singles to live in Minnesota

If you're single and looking to mingle..

Detroit Lakes, MN:
Every year there are three large events that take place in Detroit Lakes. These events bring people from all corners of the state and some from nationwide. Playboy magazine voted Detroit Lakes as one of the best places to meet beautiful women. This goes for men too. On Fourth of July week, this small lakeside town packs in thousands of people onto Main Street for fireworks, music, food and drinks, but most commonly for the possibility of meeting a special someone.

July is also the month of the Ten Thousand Lakes Festival or 10K. This music festival is centered around four days and nights of camping and outdoor concerts by primarily jam and rock bands. Bumping into a fellow music lover at the beer gardens or sharing food with a camping neighbor are just two of the ways that a single can meet someone to snuggle up with by the fire.

If jam and rock bands aren't you're cup of tea, maybe WE Fest would be a little more to your liking. National Country Stars come to Detroit Lakes for one of the biggest Country music festivals in the US. Everywhere you turn you'll see an anxious cowgirl looking for a cowboy to ride. This festival is held at Soo Pass Ranch; the same spot used for 10K.

Minneapolis, MN:
Believe it or not, Minneapolis' City Pages has consistently ranked The Gay 90's as being one of the best places to meet singles in the area. This gay night club offers several dance floors, a tremendous drag show, and some of the sexiest male strippers you could hope for. If you're a heterosexual male who feels uncomfortable attending a gay club, drive by the front entrance wait line, take a peek at the many "sexually charged" ladies waiting to catch a glimpse of one of the only male strip shows in the city, and you may start to whistle another tune.

Minneapolis is quickly climbing the charts as one of the most artistic cities in the country. Home to over 13 art venues, 20 theaters, and one of the most popular radio stations in the nation which primarily plays hits from celebrated local musicians, this city is certainly not lacking in locations to meet people who share mutual interests in the arts.

In its many suburbs and surrounding cities, you can find both natural and man made attractions. Here is a list of just a few of the best places to meet people in and around Minneapolis: Minnehaha Falls, Mall of America (Bloomington), Como Zoo, Sculpture Garden, Lake Calhoun, Valley Fair (Shakopee), State Fair (Saint Paul), Canterbury Downs (Shakopee), Mystic Lake Casino, Nicollet Mall, Walker Art Center, Bryant-Lake Bowl, Depot Ice Chalet, and the Guthrie Theater.

If you're single and looking to save money..

Moorhead, MN:
The landscape may be a little flat, but Moorhead exhibits a tremendous sense of community and family. This mid-size town is located on the border, right across the river from Fargo, ND. Moorhead continues to progress in its educational facilities and overall business development, however the affordable cost of housing and other daily expenses is probably the most attractive asset of the city.

It doesn't cost an arm and a leg to go out for a nice dinner at a restaurant or to hit the town's night spots for drinks. In fact, just about every bar in the area offers some kind of nightly special. Once the liquor stores have closed in Moorhead, you can always hop over the river to purchase your provisions for the perfect night cap.

If you're of a younger age, there are approximately five higher education tech schools, state colleges and universities in the area. Loads of students enjoy spending their weekends at local sports events and concerts.
