The Voiceless
Some have a voice and speak with words
Others speak a wordless language that may not be heard.
For those to whom words are empty air, meaningless sound
Speak to those who listen with their eyes.
Words unvoiced
Spoken instead through gesture:
A nod for yes, a tantrum for NO!
Or a photo shown, a symbol chosen depicting
A place, an item, an activity.
Communication becomes visual -
Words move the body, take shape and form
They are seen to be heard.
For those who hear little
who live in a quiet world
May speak with their body.
A blur of hands and fingers
Shape a language in the air between us.
Communication becomes a dance.
The voiceless speak a language to those of us who are looking.

As you wish upon your bed.

except to pray..
Your battered bodies..
broken, taken...
