My inspiration can't be pinpointed to one exact source. I try to take little bits of everything around me and create something new-from personal triumphs like overcoming self esteem issues as a child and being a first generation college graduate to random moments of humor like sitting on gum at the ballpark and having it stretch about 6 feet as I walked away before I noticed it (at least it seemed that long) or a college friendship beginning over swiss cheese (seems crazy, but it actually happened).
I also get my inspiration from other author's insights into their own craft. And usually it comes through quotes that help me understand my own need to write and create. For example: "If I don't write to empty my mind, I go mad".
I find the reading extensively helps inspire me. Ever since I was a child, I have read anything and everything I could get my hands on. I am glad to say that I have yet to grow out of that. While reading others' works, my imagination begins to turn and inspiration usually emerges and can hardly wait long enough for me to write it down.
When writing my stories, I think of how I viewed my world as a child, what I wished the world was like, and how I view the world now. All aspects of my imagination, dreams, and desires mold the ideas I expand upon. It is almost like my second chance to be a child again-through the stories I create.
