The beauty (no pun intended) of being a man in today's society is that it's generally not frowned upon for men to purchase cosmetic products. In fact, from a woman's perspective, it's encouraged! As long as he's not purchasing mascara or a curling iron, I have no problem with a man who utilizes the cosmetic products available for his personal upkeep.
The simplest of products can make a huge difference. Instead of just purchasing the cheapest and most basic shampoo that has no scent or any other redeeming value, a man can purchase the "men's" version of a woman's shampoo. Suave offers this option in a few different scents and purposes. My boyfriend uses Suave for Men Dandruff 2 in 1 because it smells great, keeps his scalp from being itchy and helps it stay silky smooth. It offers a "Fresh, Clean, Masculine Scent" in an unassuming, dark blue bottle. Having a shampoo and conditioner in one product is perfect for a man this way he won't feel feminine for having two separate hair products.
As far as keeping their faces clean and clear, it's no secret that men don't want to advertise their skin problems. This keeps them from purchasing facial cleansers specific to their needs, which in turn, can make it worse. From acne to dry, cracked skin there is a product formulated to solve them all. Gillette has a great line of men's facial products that cover everything from a fragrance-free face wash to moisturizers and aftershave gels (as opposed to splash colognes that can irritate the skin). When all of their products are used in a daily regimen, the results can look and feel wonderful. As an added bonus, it can smell pretty good, too!
There is an ever-expanding line of hair products made specifically for the needs of men that should be utilized. People always make cracks about men who gel their hair, but it's no surprise that the look achieved is worth it. Now, I'm not talking about the overly-gelled, vertically astounding, stiff look, or the greasy looking "emo" side part that plasters the hair in place. A little gel rubs on the hands and distributed through slightly damp, short hair can create a defined look that stays in place and keeps the hair from looking "fuzzy" by the time it dries naturally. But remember all in moderation.
There are plenty of men who use their girlfriend's pore strips after they shave, or use a loofah to clean with their studly Axe body wash. There's no shame in any of it. Personal grooming is important to hygiene, and it certainly doesn't hurt to impress the ladies.
