Introduction

With its headquarters in Marietta, Georgia, the Weather Channel arrived into the broadcasting business in 1982. In no time, this news-styled TV station began to enter millions of American households. As it stands out to be among some of the most recognized news networks in the United States, many viewers rely on the Weather Channel to obtain what the weather is predicted to be for the next several days. Early in the morning, right before commuting to work, interested people tune to the Weather Channel checking on local metropolitan traffic conditions, weather outlooks for the rest of the day, or any airport delays that may hamper their trips across the country. Others watch the Weather Channel just to get coverages on major storms such as hurricanes, severe thunderstorms, or blizzards.

What Is the Weather Channel?

The Weather Channel is basically what it is in its own title name. Almost twenty-four hours a day, this cable network delivers weather-related news (occasionally including weather-related news on the rest of the world), coverages on major storms pounding the United States, and high-quality weather maps to millions of households. Its news-oriented programs never fall asleep getting up-to-date coverages on the weather. In the morning, programs such as "Your Weather Today" help the viewers prepare for the busy day ahead. Later in the evening at 8:00 p.m., "Abrams & Bettes" wraps up the day with top stories of major weather events that target the United States. There are also weather documentary shows; most of them air on weekends. One documentary highlight is the program, "Forecast Earth," which devotes to the world of good agriculture keeping and getting the planet healthy. Right now, this show can been seen for one hour beginning at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday, and 1:00 a.m. on late Saturday and Sunday nights.

The Meteorologists

Everyday, the Weather Channel meteorologists get a quick view on all regions of the United States for the viewers. From the New England to the West Coast, they recap the high and low temperatures for the day in selected major cities, what and how much precipitation is expected to fall, and sky cover. Probably the main thing that changes when meteorologists go up and center in front of the camera time to time is the weather pattern.

Of course, on-camera meteorologists get right down to business when there's severe weather occurring somewhere across the United States. It could be a hurricane curving
