As a member of the human race we take way to many things for granted during our short stay on this planet. How many times have you looked back, and said " I wish I had done that in a different way, or went a different route." It happens to all of us at some point in life, usually it will happen in your latter years when you come to the realization your life is half over, or more, and it's to late to turn the clocks back, and change things.
One of the biggest things taken for granted are by people who live in the United States of America, and I am including myself as this is where I reside as well. One thing that we are granted every day when we wake up is our freedom, but so many of us take this for granted. I would even go so far as to say that everyone of us take freedom for granted to some degree, or another. I don't bring this up as a matter of an insult, or to challenge anyones beliefs in our country, but merely as a wake up call.
One of the ways we all say that, we don't it for granted is by saying we support our troops in a time of war. Whether, or not this is a" just war "is another topic, but we see it every where we go. We see ribbons, and bumper stickers, signs, and even ads on the T.V., or radio. These things are great, but stop for a second here, other than buying one of these novelty items what have you really done to support our troops. Again I am not trying to challenge anyone's loyalty to this great country, but I just want to point out the fact that we just take somethings for granted. I know that most of these people mean well when they purchase these things, and some don't know what else they can do to support our troops.
There very well may be nothing else anyone you can do to pitch in. I just don't think that by displaying a sign, or a ribbon is enough to say we support our troops. I my self really don't know what else to do, but I think if I really wanted to support them I could find a way. This is just one of the many things we take for granted. I did serve in our armed forces for six years so I can say I have done my part at least. That still doesn't compensate what I do now to support our men and women in the armed forces.
Another thing we take for granted is the very comfort in which we live in. What I mean by that is we have bountiful supplies of food, medication, and all the other luxury of life. So many people through out the world don't have things as good as we do. We can go to a store, and buy almost anything we want to eat
