Debate on the war in Iraq

President Bush has managed to weather another storm of logic.

His temporary silence was calculated to lull us into hoping that he was truly considering recommendations on the handling of Iraq. A new direction should have resulted in a more balanced and less aggression based policy in the Middle East. What in the world were we thinking?

True to form, he returned to The Presidential Podium to inform us that he was going to do exactly what he has wanted to do from the beginning. He wants to send more troops. A new general will serve as The President's right hand. This new fellow undoubtedly, agrees with pouring gasoline on this oil fire.

There may be some hope that Congress will take action to make this escalation difficult, but it is doubtful. The funding had already been set aside for this very action, before the last Congressional election; another slap in the face of each and every citizen of the USA. For all those countries that are trying to build Democracies, this just might make them change their minds about its being a superior form of government. It is functioning more like a Dictatorship.

Someone in Congress has to admit, to the citizens of the USA and the world, that our leader's grasp on reality and ability to truly care about the world he lives in, is extremely questionable. Only people who are extremely neurotic will experience a failed course of action, then use more force on the same course.

Citizens, it is time we spoke up even louder than during the election. There needs to be a new course that emphasizes the respectful diplomacy that has been disregarded during the last 6 years. We cannot remain the most hated people on earth because one man has decided to close his heart toward his fellow humans, based on his misguided notions that he will go down in history as the man who spread Democracy.
