A baby boy is born. He's an unattractive infant, but hopefully, he'll grow out of it. Unfortunately, the forces of nature have something else in mind, and he doesn't. As he gets older, other kids poke fun at him. The child reaches puberty at last, discovers the joy of self-gratification, and starts becoming interested in girls. Of course, they just make cruel remarks and laugh at him. This is further amplified by the time he enters high school. He eventually graduates, but has never been on a date. He's now in his twenties, and while females are no longer as cruel as they were a decade earlier, they still can't get comfortable with the idea of going out with him. "He's a nice guy, but he's so ugly," they think to themselves.
On the other side of town, a middle-aged man has just received his final divorce papers. He hasn't had sex in nearly ten years, and even when he did, it took place about as often as the arrival of the gas and electric bill. For the first time in a quarter of a century, he is single again. As he looks in the mirror, he recalls where his hairline used to be. He's also gained fifty pounds since his wedding day, and forty of those went to his gut, which now protrudes about five inches past his beltline. Of the divorced women in his age group, the pretty ones are dating guys much better-looking than he will ever be again. Of course, younger women wouldn't be interested in a pot-bellied, balding guy, either; unless he was rich. This leaves the fat, repulsive-looking ones with cellulite, the prematurely wrinkled, or those who have so many varicose veins that their legs look like a Rand-McNally Road Atlas.
These two hypothetical people are just a small sampling of why prostitution should be legalized. Sex is a normal, natural desire; and in fact a need for all but perhaps those with the strictest moral code. Why should people like those above be arrested and looked upon as criminals?
Prostitution is legal in many countries, but within the United States, only a select number of counties in the state of Nevada permit it. Interestingly; in Rhode Island, prostitution is legal as long as it occurs indoors. Brothels; however, are illegal. I guess this means you can make a deal in your local bar, grocery store, or even in your office! Who knew?
One of the biggest arguments against prostitution is in regard to the spread of sexually-transmitted diseases (STD's). Obviously, if you pick some streetwalker up in your car, drive to some seedy motel, and don't use
