Poetry: The masks we wear

by Ate.

RastaFakahFar I
Wearing Green and Gold and Red
Parody of a Rootsman
Dreads lying from your head

RastaFakahFar I
Righteous tunes a wasted beat
Lyrics merely a carriage
For the sounds that move your feet

RastaFakahFar I
Using Judgment Day
As an excuse to live dishonourably
'It's up to Jah' you say
(Like your beliefs absolve you,
in YOUR choice of way)

RastaFakahFar I
Sully the name of Jah
And the true Ras Tafar I
The Holy Emperor

RastaFakahFar I
Who once was heard to say
'I want to be a Righteous Rootsman'
Mocking those who only play
At being Rastas with a conscience
~But you're one too, today.
