always putting the care and safety of every patient first and that is their priority with every patient. Anyone who fails to put patients first does not belong in nursing.
There is no other profession where you can touch human lives in such a close and intimate way. Whether you help bring a new life into the world or present at a patient's side when they are dying, there is a inner peace that only a nurse can describe. Nurses are exposed to things that no other job can ever offer you. The significant impact on people's lives and their families is the most rewarding experience you can have.
There is no such thing as a dull day in nursing. Nursing is forever changing and whether you are caring for a patients with multiple injuries or serious illness, it is very challenging and stimulating. Nursing is fast paced and needs energetic individuals who can multi task well and know how to prioritize. There is no mundane or same old job every day when you are an RN. Nursing jobs are in high demand and the nursing field is experiencing significant growth. The United States has an aging population to care for and their are significant advances happening every day in health care.
If you have a commitment to learning and willingness to work hard and most of all have a compassion and respect for life than nursing may be the right profession for you. Nursing school is demanding and stressful but the ultimate goal is to graduate only those who are right for nursing. You will have to pass a state board exam after graduating, but nursing school prepares you to take and pass the boards. Nursing is the greatest job I could have ever chosen and is more than I ever imagined or hoped it would be. I have never regretted saying, " I am a nurse."
