Good-bye to You
Verse 1
I drove to meet the mid night train
at the station in the rain,
but to my surprise you weren't even there.
Well they were sure that you came in
at a little after ten,
and someone else had taken you somewhere.
I sat down for a little while
just to think, then I smiled,
I got up and headed for your favorite bar.
You were sittin' by a girl
in your private little world,
but I saw you, you were actin' like a movie star.
Chorus
Well good-bye to you my friend,
you're not worth the time I spend
washin' dishes or sweepin' up the kitchen floor.
You thought that you could run around
but by now well I guess you found
that good-byes the only word you're gonna' ever hear.
Verse 2
You might think this kinda strange
but I didn't say a thing,
I walked up and ordered me a beer from the bar.
When I glanced around the place,
it was the look upon your face,
that made me laugh until I thought that I would die.
I could tell that you were sad,
you'd been caught and that was bad
and you couldn't think of single word to say.
So I raised my crystal glass
and toasted you just like the past,
found my hat and coat and walk right out the door.
Chorus
