Poetry: Food humor

"Fly in the Gravy"

The waitress brought my lunch out
And much to my surprise
My potatoes were a-buzzin'
Right before my very eyes
I clenched my teeth and shook my head
And did a doubletake
As something did the breaststroke
Across my lumpy gravy lake
A crowd drew 'round my table
And shouted out with glee
All the while not knowing
What they next would see
I know you won't believe me
But I swear this is no lie
My undercooked trout dinner
Jumped up and ate the fly
