Reflections: Where does your inspiration come from?

It is difficult growing up with a father who is obsessed with his work. He spent the majority of his spare time sleeping; no doubt because he was up for days. He worked so hard, day in...day out. He never really had too much time for us kids. I like to think of him as ambitious. It takes someone like that to hold down two jobs, and raise three little girls. And his jobs were far from easy. Part time, he worked as a plumber; he did a few jobs here and there for a little extra cash flow, seeing as his full time job was not as fruitful as he had hoped. That is what I admire about my father, his passion for what he loves. He worked as a chemist primarily, but the money was just not there. But, boy, did he enjoy it. He still does. I guess that is why I have not heard form him in a while.

He was always working on new developments, trying to make his mark on the world. An Idealist. He has made numerous breakthroughs in his work, but since money was so tight, he had to sell his ideas to other chemists and investors. I guess he is a bit of an entrepreneur too. And even though his labs have been far from state of the art, and maybe not as advanced as he would like, he still managed to do just fine, fashioning his bathtub crank. So when all is said and done, I don't really blame him for not being around. he was just trying to give my sisters and me a life to be proud of. Any father who loves his daughters as much as he loves us would do the same.
So yes, my father is my biggest inspiration. He has inspired me to be a better person than he was. He has inspired me to stay away from drugs, and to show my family how much I love them. He has driven me to make something of myself, just to prove that he was wrong. True Inspiration.
