Poetry: What I see

by Amanda Pridgen

WHAT I SEE

When I look at you I do not see who you think I see.
For, I see beyond what you appear to be.
I wish I had a mirror to reflect my view.
Then you would understand why I am amazed my you.
There is a wall you have built around you, and not just anyone could break through.
You would not dare let them get that close to you.
I love to see the expressions on you face when you think no one is looking long after the race.
You have programmed yourself to fell no emotion.
You feel each day with so much commotion.
You are always in a hurry trying to be two steps ahead.
Why rush your life away?
Is it because you already feel dead?
I don't think you realize that you are a spectacular person.
An individual unlike any other I have met before.
I see all of you and even more!
No matter how hard you try to push me away.
I will not budge; I will go astray.
If only you would open the door.
I would show you a whole new world.
Would you believe that there is someone who is true?
Someone who doesn't need or want anything from you.
Knowing the greatest gift you give doesn't cost any money.
One you give without even knowing.
It is the real you! The one you are not showing!
