If you watched the movie ghost and found the pottery making sessions of Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore romantic then you might find homemade pizza dough kneading with your honey just as romantic. I have taken this classic recipe of homemade pizza dough and made it my own by adding herbs and spices to the kneading process. Hence I call this,
Homemade Pizza Dough with Italian Herbs and Spices.
Ingredients:
2 pkgs. yeast
2 cups warm water
2 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. vegetable oil
6 or 6 1/2 cups flour
4 tbsp. vegetable oil
Pepperoncinno
Oregano
salt and pepper
1.Mix the yeast and warm water in large bowl until it dissolves.
2.Stir in salt and oil.
3.Add 4 cups of flour. Beat until smooth.
4.Stir in oregano and pepperoncinno (and/or other herbs that you like)
5.Add in more flour just until the mixture is easy to handle.
6.Knead on floured surface for about 5 minutes.
7.Grease a large bowl. Place the kneaded dough on the greased bowl and make sure all sides are grilled. Cover the bowl and let it rise in a warm place for about 45-50minutes.
8.Preheat oven to 400 degrees ( best to use open fire ovens if available.)
9. Grease 5 pans of various sizes.
10. Punch down dough and divide to 5 sections.
11Roll into flat shapes to place into pans.
12.Bake the dough for 2 hours on 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
13. Add prepared sauce and toppings and bake for an additional 25 minutes.
