The story of God is a great creation made up by a man or men. It has stood the test of time and accomplished it's goal in making people belive in its messege. It is full of war, love, hate, and death. But that is all it is, a story.
God is what was used to explain what man could not. No one knew what the sun really was, or why we had seasons, or to explain why we are here. If this also means what the Bible contains, it's all the same to me. It is not relevant today because we know more about the universe, we know about evolution, and men do not dominate women anymore.
Some where a man decided to write a book to explain how we should treat each other. And the Bible has its good points, like the ten commandments. It is hard to argue that to be civilized, we need rules to follow, but there are exeptions to every rule. And punishment was left the imagination of the author. But there are more questions than answers to some of the teachings of the Bible.
People have asked why does God let bad things happen to good people? He does not let anything happen because there is no one upstairs making that decision. God is a creation of man who needs something bigger to blame or to praise and in the process, established churches that cater to men and made women feel less then equal. So, if I was a man, I would welcome a religion that makes me the owner of propery, including a women. And if she talks back, I get to hit her with a stick no thicker then my thumb. Women according to God and the Bible have been blamed for everything starting with Eden. And with controvery of Mary Magdalene, she has been branded a whore. God forbid a women could have Jesus's right hand man!
Churches call everyone sinners and that they must come every Sunday in their very best and make sure you give all you can so that the church has new carpeting. It has been seen over and over agian that churches make money and lots of it. Tax Free! While the poor get poorer and try to survive on the hopes that God will save them and give them what they need. They preach of the Devil lurking around every corner, when its evil to ask for money from people less fortunate to believe their story of God.
In God's name, there is war, priests who touch children, Evangelists that take money. segregation between men and women, races and sexual orientations. They make God's word fit what they want you to believe and for them to stay wealthy. Compare God, the church, and the Bible to oil speculators that scare everyone into what MIGHT happen. That horrifies people all over the world and the oil companies (churches) profit from it.
And that is what the story of God means to me. It's a profitable belief and millions of people for thousands of years have fallen prey to the scare tactics from being babtized to dying without $5000 in your pocket to pay for it. Just like the government, they get you coming and going.
