The days all stretch ahead, with no
Promise of relief, no release.
Lost and alone, I could find peace
On that final, empty road.
Silence fills the void, no human sound
Attends me. Yet I can hear a voice.
Clear and true, an inner tiny noise
That signals me to just look around.
The order cannot be ignored or passed,
Issued with insistence - I obey.
I see what life has given me today,
What goodness lies just within my grasp.
To leave it all behind would be a sin.
To cease to understand that inner song.
By holding on, by righting what's gone wrong,
I won't give up, I'll fight and I will win!
