level of commitment it takes to raise their children at home for as long as necessary.
Consider the flip side of spending the day with your child. You are privileged to reap the reward of seeing your child write his first letter, draw his first picture or take his first step. The pleasures derived from watching your child grow before your eye is immeasurable. Women are natural teachers so a child's first teacher is naturally mom. Mom's break up fights between siblings and show them a better way to behave. Moms clean the house, make special made-to-order meal request and all with a loving hand. Having children in general forces you to absolve most of your ego so being a stay at home mother requires the best and most generous part of a woman.

In additions to all the things that a mother does from home, there are yet and still mother's who choose to work from home. This job becomes twice as hard keeping young ones occupied quietly while business deals are made from home. A woman's job never ends.
There is also a form of isolation that is associated with staying with the kids all day everyday. Most women I know want to pull there hair out for a lack of companionship with other women. If you're not part of a mommy and me group or some other organization geared towards mothers meeting then it can become easy to feel alone, become withdrawn and maybe even depressed.
As children grow older and begin to have a sense of what it means to help, I think parents and guardians should start the process of teaching young ones to say thank you. Thank you for dinner, thank you for giving me my hair cut or what ever it is that you've done for them should be acknowledged. Its just good manners anyway, learning to appreciate a kind gesture. It will slowly bring kids out of that self centered gimme' attitude. It's important for children to understand at a young age that kind acts should be acknowledged and rewarded. Thus begins the appreciation of the stay at home mom.
Young children, husbands and partners alike all miss the details of what goes into a busy day as a stay at home mother. The best way to begin to appreciate what it is women all around the world do for future generations is to give a hand. Nothing says thank you' like pulling up your sleeve and doing the very thing that we do by stepping into our shoes for just a while. Understanding what it takes to be a stay at home mom is hard work that deserves recognition. Just as Valentine's Day doesn't represent the love we have for each other throughout the year nor should Mother's Day be the one day you say thank you to a stay at home mom. The greatest accomplishment any child could give a mother isn't the things you can buy at Wal-mart but instead are the many strides made through life. A mother's real joy is a life well lived, filled with joy and self fulfillment. All any mother wants is to see that her child is truly happy.
