A stay at home mother is the oldest and noblest professions of all. And by all means it is a profession. It is motherhood extended, mom to the 2nd power, mother magnified! Mother's are under appreciated anyway. The day to day chores we perform are often taken for granted while a simple thank you' goes unsaid for the many mini miracles we make manifest. There are so many levels to a stay at home mother.

In order to understand the demands that a stay at home mother abides by it's important to understand what she does in the course of a day. Children expect a lot of playtime as well as they deserve it, so most of your day is filled with quality play time. Depending on the sleeping habits of your child she may not do well with naps. For some, a half an hour nap is enough to fuel several more hours of non stop hyper drive activity that may last well past a reasonable bed time. Cleaning is a must for any household. If your child is not ready to stop playing or has a temper tantrum that must be dealt with before you can even begin your chores. Some children love to help out so if you can get your toddler to do it, great. Moms plan activities, buy popular brand DVD's and schedule trips to the park.
If you're unorganized and don't work with a schedule your day immediately begins with a request from a youngster for his favorite peanut butter and jelly that continues until you respond. You've barely had time to get your first thought together before he is tugging at your sheets for attention. Being a stay at home mom your whole day is committed to the wants and needs of someone other than yourself. It doesn't matter to a child that you may be tired from the day before, or that you just want some mommy time' to yourself. The requests of young children are impatient and persistent.
There are cases however, where a stay at home mom may be thrown into the position without warning or planning this enormous undertaking. Take for example the mother who funds are limited. Factor in the high cost of daycare, especially for children under 2 years of age, living expenses, baby necessities and perhaps a lack of skill or unemployment and this all can add up to an instant stay at home mother. Some mother's have children with special needs and feel justly in thinking that they are the only ones capable of giving a child the attention that is required. Contrary to the fun time we had that night with our then boyfriends, some women do plan motherhood. They have planned from the start that
