Poetry: The cycle of life

by Victoria Cross

Endless cycle

The sun slowly reveals itself
as the morning begins
Soft silk petals closed
and asleep from within

Morning dew blankets
the emerald blades on the ground
Silence lingers
no presence to be found

Perfection of tiny tear drops
fallen from the heavens above
Covering each wonder
with gods endless love

The scent of the grass
the sway of the trees
Gently dancing
in the warm summer breeze

As each passing moment
displays a beautiful sight
Birds begin to awaken
chirp and some take flight

Animals scurry
and hunt food to keep
Whilst creatures of the night
fall fast asleep

Midday rays and the heat
now intense from the sun
The vibration and movement
of nature routines have begun

Opening blooms emitting sweet fragrances
at their ultimate peak
Breathtaking and wonderful
individually unique

The near by brooks
transparent water, trailing over stones
Trickling, splashing with excitement and flowing tones

Waterfalls cascading over
magnificent hard rock edges so coarse
Like natures fierce shower
crashing wildly, free with force

But time is ticking
and the sun now grows tired
Day rest her head
and finally her time has expired

Welcoming the depth of darkness
celebrating evening romance
Tiny diamonds that pierce the evening sky
that twinkle and dance

The wolf near by
enticingly howls to the moon
As the cycle takes place
and repeats itself soon

Owls and bats swoop
devouring their pray
And once again the clock of life
repeats a new day
