She is again widowed and finally marries Rhett Butler who spoils her completely. Tragedy is never far from Scarlett's life and eventually her selfish nature and manipulative ways cause her to lose her true love. Intense characterization makes both Scarlett and Rhett one of the most famous couples in literary history.
