Classic books help us to navigate the treacherous seas of human life by teaching us subtle lessons in human psychology. They have the ability to permeate our consciousness and alter our perceptions about life and people. They enhance our minds, enrich our souls and spur our imagination. A classic book is timeless. No matter how many times you read it, you find deeper meaning and experience fresh delight every time.
As far as classic books are concerned, I have many personal favorites. It is very hard to choose between these books because each time I read them I understand a little more and find new dimensions to the characters.
~~To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee~~
"Remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." Atticus Finch.
It is a beautiful, moving story that is told through the innocent eyes of a young girl, Scout, who witnesses the racial prejudices and hypocrisy of her town people in Maycomb, Alabama. Things take a turn for the worse for Scout and her brother Jem, when her father, a lawyer named Atticus Finch takes on the case of a black man accused of raping a white woman. With gentle humor and grave understanding, Harper Lee explores the irrational adult attitude towards class, race and color amid one lawyer's unflinching struggle for justice. A beautiful book and a must read.

Mrs. Bennet's sole obsession in life is to see her five daughters married to eligible, rich men. Her dreams seem to come true with the arrival of handsome Mr. Bingley in the neighborhood who shows keen interest in the eldest sister, Jane Bennet. This courtship is however interrupted by his haughty and arrogant friend Mr. Darcy. In spite of his disapproval of the Bennet family, Mr. Darcy falls in love with the fiery and intelligent Elizabeth. She rejects his condescending marriage proposal with anger and scorn. There seems to be no hope for their love to prevail as both almost allow pride and prejudice to threaten their happiness. However time, letters, circumstances and a snobbish aunt slowly unravel the misunderstandings and as Elizabeth and Darcy get to know each other, they also get a better
