Teddy Bear Bread is fun for kids of all ages! There are several ways to make it, either using premade bread dough, which you purchase at your local grocery story, or you can make it from scratch. Here is a recipe if you choose to make it from scratch. This recipe will make 2 teddy bears.
Ingredients
3 cups flour
3 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
3 tablespoons margarine
1 package dry yeast
1 1/2 cup water
1/2 cup milk
Directions
Scald milk, then stir in sugar, salt and margarine. Cool till the mixture is lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add milk mixture and 3 cups unsifted flour; beat until smooth.
Stir in enough additional flour 3 1/2 to 4 cups to make a stiff dough. On a floured board, knead 8 to 10 minutes, place in a greased bowl, and grease top of dough. Cover and let rise until double, for about 1 hour. Punch down and divide in four equal pieces. Cut 1 piece in half and 1 piece in 14 pieces. Shape in balls.
Place the large ball on greased baking sheet for bodies. Place medium balls above for heads. Flatten slightly. Pinch seams. Attach small balls for paws, noses and ears. Cover and let rise until doubled, 1 hour.
Make indentations in ears. Place raisins for eyes and belly buttons. Mix 1 egg and 1 tablespoon of water and brush on bears. Bake at 400 for 25 to 30 minutes.
