Accounting degree

So you want to be an accountant. Well get ready for some fast action. First you must start with some basics that you take along with Principles of Accounting I & II maybe at a community college or university. They do not play at college. There is little time to goof off. They mean business all the time. The accounting books are two inches think and you cover all the material.

First you learn about debits and credits. What is the normal balance of a specific account. Then you move quickly on to learning what a balance sheet is and what accounts are listed on it.
From there you learn about the accounting cycle. You find out that the numbers come from financial document called source documents. From there it just keeps coming. You learn about the income statement that shows how much income a company's making. The statement of owner's equity is next and then the statement of cash flows.

It's incredibly interesting and will captivate your mind's attention from the start to finish. If you make a bad grade just try harder and stick with it. The future is bright ahead. Most accountants have very little trouble finding a job. They usually make around $25,000 to $36,000 a year and they get good benefits. The concepts of assets and liabilities are the basics for all accounting work. You have to learn what each one is and the normal balance of each account the business had on its balance sheet. Reports like the income statement and others are created from the ledger and the journal where you post transactions. Most of all keep a sense of confidence about you and if you haven't been in school in a while, give yourself a break.

As for as online course go, they offer limited degrees and very limited with student out of their area. You have to attend classes on campus to get the full benefit of the education. You'll find college very tricky. You'll think you know something and when you take the test you fail. Hopefully that doesn't happen to you because your GPA is everything in the real world so don't think nobody's watching because they will find out later. You may surprise yourself and do extremely well. Some areas you'll do well in and others you might not do so well.

Otherwise, good luck. I hope you're college experience is a good one.
