For decades Americans have taken comfort in their local Chevrolet or Ford dealer in order to insure some of their most precious and important purchases. For the truck enthusiast, the Chevrolet Silverado has always been a solid choice. You hear about them in songs, you see them on the television; the Chevy has driven to the levy and into our hearts. This all-American vehicle has progressed once again into another bar-setting vehicle.
Chevrolet introduced their first truck in 1918. Full-size trucks known as the C (2x4) or K (4x4) series were produced starting in 1960. The Silverado is the successor of this model and like the Ford F-150 has buried itself into the heart of pickup truck owners. The 2007 Silverado is a perfect specimen of what the pickup truck is all about. Using a more modern finish to the mid 90's template, it has been refined using a much bolder, powerful stance than ever before. The body is three inches wider in the front, and one inch wider in the rear than the previous generation's. Never has a Chevy truck looked so big, tall and intimidating. The exterior is simplicity at perfection. It comes in an array of colors such as: Summit White, Victory Red, Dark Cherry Metallic, Blue Granite Metallic, Dark Blue Metallic, Silver Birch Metallic, Greystone Metallic, Black, Deep Ruby Metallic, and Desert Brown Metallic.
The interior is very comfortable and roomy for a truck. It comes in three trim levels: WT, the "Work Truck" trim with minimal standard features, LS, a choice between two different LT packages (1LT and 2LT), and the LTZ package. The interior is highly practical and has one of the roomiest cabins in its class. The new AM/FM stereo with built-in CD player and MP3 jack is a pleasure and the sound quality is exceptional. The seats are molded perfectly and allow for a very comfortable, relaxing drive. The front air-bag system is equipped with a standard "Passenger Sensing System". It senses when a passenger is present through pressure and weight and turns on or off the airbag as needed.
The powertrains available in the Silverado 1500:

-Vortec 4.3L V6: 195 hp @ 4500 rpm, and 260 lb.-ft. of torque @ 2800 rpm with 15 mpg city and 20 mpg highway or 14 mpg city and 18 mpg highway in 4x4 models. The best V6 fuel efficiency of any pickup.
-Vortec 4.8L V8: 295 hp @ 5600 rpm, and 305 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4800 rpm with 14 mpg city and 19 mpg highway or 14 mpg city and 18 mpg highway in 4x4 models. The best V8 fuel efficiency of any pickup.
