Honey Teriyaki Sauce
I use this recipe every time I haul out the barbeque. It just seems to bring out the flavor of any almost any type of meat I am cooking. If you want, you can spread this sauce right on the meat while it is cooking, or you can spread it on when you are about to take your meat off of the barbeque. I usually add it on the meat, then turn the meat over, and spread a little on the other side, and turn it over once again so it has had a chance to warm.
Ingredients
3 tablespoons oil
2 tablespoons fresh minced garlic
2 tablespoons chopped fresh ginger
1 cup soy sauce
cup rice wine vinegar
cup honey or a little more if you like your sauce a little on the sweeter side
cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons sesame oil
3 green onions cut on diagonal (white part only)
cup cold water
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 orange, juice of
In a medium saucepan, heat oil
Add in garlic and ginger; saut for about 30 seconds
Add in soy sauce, vinegar, honey, brown sugar and sesame oil; cook and stir over medium heat until sauce is bubbly, and the sugar has melted (this process should only take about 3 to 4 minutes)
Add in the green onions, juice of one orange and the cornstarch (mix with 1 tablespoon water); whisk until the sauce has thickened and is glistening
Remove from heat
Pour/drizzle over grilled meats or poultry
Garnish with more green onions and sesame seeds (Makes about 2 cups)
I hope you try this recipe, it really is great.
