A new you: The benefits of exercise

As many adults get older, they begin to exercise less, relying on the pharmacist to alleviate their health problems, whether minor or major. But all you have to do is remember how well you felt playing ball, swimming or bicycling with your friends as teenagers, or young adults.
Exercising is beneficial at all ages, and what is even more important, is that you're never too old to start an exercise regiment.

That headache, which you've been taking that well known tablet for, has it always been there? Could it be that your daily stress level has increased? Furthermore, sitting at home watching television, and becoming sedentary, doesn't really give you an avenue for stress relief. However, there is a way to relieve that stress without popping any pills. Exercise, a brisk walk around the block could relieve that headache. The reason for this is that, exercise increases blood flow to the brain, supplying a rich amount of oxygen as well, lessening any pressure in that area.
There are many more health problems that exercise is good for such as
Insomnia
High Cholesterol
Back Pain
Arthritis
Depression.
Let's go down the list and explain how exercise can help these health problems that many people have.
The School of Medicine at Stanford University did a study on insomnia using adults, between the ages of fifty five and seventy five who were sedentary and insomniacs. They were put on an exercise schedule of 30 minutes/ 3 times a week usually during the morning. The results were good. These adults were able to fall asleep quicker and also sleep longer.
The researchers explained that exercise works every part of the body making it more relaxed by the end of the day and as the individual goes to sleep the phases or cycles of sleep has a smooth transition making it easier for the body to rest.
LDL, the bad cholesterol can be lowered 5 to 10% through regular exercise while raising at the same time the good cholesterol HDL 3 to 6%.
A regimen of regular stretching and flexibility exercise can alleviate back pain, especially if stretching is centered on the spinal area. This regimen can also be used for Arthritis, noting that Arthritis is usually associated with joint inflammation. Repetitive movements of the joints and stretching should give the individual, better mobility and flexibility. During the 1940's when exercising made a comeback, and women became interested, it was called Calisthenics.
Depression, a health problem many people experience, can be helped through aerobic exercising. Aerobic meaning oxygen consumption by the body through jogging swimming, bicycling, aerobic dance, or any exercise that gets the body moving about, consuming oxygen. While exercising, endorphins, the feel good hormone, are released throughout the body, giving the individual a feeling of calm and peace, which helps relieve depression.
A good exercise regimen, should keep you in good health. Start of slow and then build up to what suits you. 30 minutes a day, 3 times a week is usually the norm.
Exercising is not only for loosing weight: it can reduce pain, improve mobility, give you a feeling of peace, relieve headaches and give you and your body a feeling of wellness.
