How to make pancakes

I don't know many people who don't like pancakes. Nice, hot, fluffy pancakes evokes memories of childhood some individuals. The smell of pancakes on the griddle is better than any alarm cook on an early morning. When the perfect pat of butter and the right amount of maple syrup is added, pancakes can be a mouthwatering experience. The best thing about pancakes is that almost anyone can learn to make decent pancakes.

Thanks to advances in food technology, making pancakes is not as labor-intensive as it once was. It is a simple as going to the grocery store and pulling a box off the shelf. A number of companies sell boxes of instant pancake mixes that are tasty when the directions are followed. The instant varieties of pancakes only require the right amount of water to make the pancakes as thick as you want them.

Biquick, a Betty Crocker product, has made it even easier to make pancakes. They now have Biquick Shake 'n' Pour, in which people add the ingredients to a container and you shake it until the ingredients are mixed. They are then poured on the griddle or in the skillet. So, even the laziest of pancake lover can make this breakfast treat.

Of course, some people like to make pancakes from scratch because they don't want to consume processed ingredients that are often used in instant products. So, for those people, here is the simple recipe for pancakes.

Ingredients:

2 cups of all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
2 to 2 3/4 cups of milk (depending on desired thickness)
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 to 3 tablespoons of sugar
1 teaspoon of salt

Blend all ingredients in a bowl and stir them with a spoon. I prefer a spoon to a mixer because a mixer sometime makes it a little too watery. Heat the lightly greased griddle or skillet to 375F. Once heated, scoop or pour the mix onto the surface. Cook until bubbles surface on the pancake or, as my mother told me, the sides there is a bit of browning on the side of the pancake. Then, flip the pancake and cook until golden brown.

The cooking instructions work for instant as well as homemade pancakes. The important thing to remember is not to leave the stove when cooking pancakes or they can overcook on one side. Another tip is to flip the pancake only once because continued flipping actually makes the pancakes tough, which will make them unpleasant to eat.

Although the ingredients listed above are basic, a person can vary it according to their preference. Different kinds of milk can be substituted, just make sure they are equal to the amount of milk that would normally be used. Additionally, nuts and fruit can be added to the batter to give them a unique flavor.
