Kiawah has some of the most scenic golf courses in the country. Many developers have chosen to leave natural beauty in place. There are five courses that draw people from all parts of the world.
Turtle Point Course
Osprey Point Course
Ocean Course
Oak Point Course
Cougar Point Course
Play on any one of the five championship courses designed by Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio, Gary Player and Clyde Johnston.
The Ocean course seems to be a favorite among golfers. The Ocean Course was named #1 Golf course in South Carolina, by Gold Digest. This is an 18-hole course of total bliss and amazement. This course offers a scenic view of the Atlantic Ocean from every hole; therefore its name says it all. Pete Dye built this course in 1991. This course offers many seaside holes. This course is a challenge. Some of the holes are just plain hard. Some of the holes call you to think and rethink you strategy, especially when the wind becomes a factor. The wind has the ability to dictate if the holes are the easiest or the hardest, depending on the direction of the wind at the moment in time. So, if you love a golf challenge the Ocean Course is for you. If you want to play on a course that is unique and the beauty of nature surrounds, consider Ocean Course in Kiawah.
Kiawah Island Golf Resort offers golf and hotel vacation packages. Kiawah has been a host of the PGA championships. There are many tournaments and events held at Kiawah. There is one that brings laughter and memories for a lifetime- "The Friendship Cup".
The Friendship Cup is in its third year. This has become a popular event because it is a tournament for amateur players. It is a two- man tournament. The Friendship Cup is held on the Ocean Course, site of the 2012 PGA Championships and the Jack Nicklaus-designed Turtle Point Golf Course. The lavish receptions, prizes, and the laughter of friendship make this a cherished event.
