How to bond with a new cat

Bonding with a cat as a pet can be very comforting! Even though they have claws and a mind of their own, They can be tamed if you've purchased a cat at an older age. They just need to be shown calmness for one. They need to know that no-one is going to harm them. I do think that it's easier to tame an older cat if it's introduced to a one person home. Some one that lives alone and could use the companianship. We also know that adopting a pet is very good. This is one more animal that doesn't have to be put to sleep because of shortages in shelters. Plus, in time, the owner and cat can bond. It may take a while, but it's worth it in the long run!

When you think that you would like a cat for a pet, it's usually a good idea to purchase a guide to caring for cats if you've never owned a cat! Even if you've had, iand haven't had a cat for awhile, it doesn't hurt to brush up on cat care. These guides help and teach you how to deal with cats.

Cats are smarter than one thinks. Of course they need to be trained on what not to do in the home. Though with tender care and a soft voice usually works. If the owner starts raising their voice will scare the cat. Sometimes the cat can become very rebellious from this. But, knowing that they love to play a lot, I play with them as much as possible and this gets them pretty tired. If you've purchased a cat bed, they will usually lay in it when it's introduced to them and they realize it's just for them. If you don't mind the company, they love to lay with you in bed as well. Once there is bonding, the cat will love to spend time with you in your office, sewing room, etc. They love the company too. That was the whole idea in the first place-to get rid of being lonely.

Lets discuss kittens......
If one purchases a kitten, the bonding becomes much, much easier for the bonding. They love to be petted, brushed, and held on a regular basis-especially at this tender age. If you stop this, in time the cat may shrug from it and it lessons the bond. This is because cats get very indignant. Cats when older don't like to be touched that much unless you keep practicing what they like the most. What's good is it if you can't hold and keep that bond? Usually the first time you show them the litter-box, they seem to know what it's for. I find this amazing!

Once you and your cat understand each other, the bonding comes easy. Maybe not at first but it does happen in time. Patience is the virtue, always. After all there's a lot to learn from each other. But once you and your cat have bonded and understand each other-you've got a friend for life!
