A guy's take: How to find a good man

Good men are not always hard to find. They are, for some reason, difficult to recognize. Most women have a good man in their lives, but never think about it. They are usually the ones you consider your best friend. They are the ones who you like, but you don't think about dating. Here are a few things to consider the next time you say there are no good men out there.

A good man is a good person. He will treat you like a human being first and a woman second. He respects you and what you have to say. When he disagrees with you, he will tell you so because that's what he does with anybody and he respects you enough not to simply ignore you. If you're new to something, he'll give you pointers and tips because it's a nice thing to do and not because he thinks you're weak. He'll open a door for you, offer you a bite of his lunch, bring your mail when he is walking by the mailbox, all just because he is a nice guy.

A good man is a good friend. He is the first man you call when you are upset and need to talk. He answers the phone and will talk with you for three hours straight if that's what you need. He is the man that you trust enough to ask questions about other men because you would be too embarrassed to ask anybody else. If you need an honest opinion on how you look or what you should do in a situation, he will do just that for you. If you need to get something off your chest, you know he will keep your secret to the grave because he is a good friend.

The biggest reason women will ignore a good man is that they don't feel a spark between them. It seems like they want some magical Prince Charming to come sweep them off their feet. Well, who do you think you could live happily ever after with? It's going to be the man who is always there for you, who helps you when you're stuck, comforts you when you're upset, and cares about what you have to say.

Sure, it's easy to say that your best guy friend is just your friend. But is that really a reason not to consider him? What do you want out of your relationships? If you want a hot, sweaty grope-fest, then looking for the man with a sexy body and a perfect smile that you catch from across a room is fantastic. If you want a stable relationship that can last for the rest of your life, then you should consider looking around for the person who already provides stability in your life.
