Does government have a role in overseeing the release of results from federally funded science, or does the public have the right to view such information unfiltered

Title endorsed in part by:

The American public must have unfettered access to the results of federally funded science research. Why? Because the government is secretive, lies, and twists scientific statistics and data to support their political agenda.

America currently distrusts the President and his administration. He has been caught in many lies and many instances of providing misleading data to the American public, such as the claims about weapons of mass destruction that led to the start of the Iraq war.

Federally funded scientific research is crucial to the strength of our nation. Our scientists are hard at work to find cures for diseases; it is extremely important that there is open access to the results of their work. Scientists worldwide should be able to analyze the data of our federally funded research studies without worrying that some sort of government "spin" has tainted the results of the study.

Many controversial issues are currently undergoing federally funded research studies: stem cell research, cloning research, development of new birth control methods, updates to treatments for cancer, heart disease, diabetes, epilepsy, and other serious diseases.

Every American, at some time during their life, is directly impacted by the knowledge discovered via federally funded scientific studies. America's research laboratories are places where miracles happen every day. The work of our scientists is invaluable in finding treatment and cures for diseases.

Americans and the world deserve to know the true, unaltered facts about each and every study conducted with federal dollars. Currently, American's trust level of the government is at a very low level. It is imperative that the government provide more transparency about all of their actions to the public.

America must have access to all results of all federally funded research studies. The religious right aspect of the Bush administration has become frightening. They are skewering medical data to reflect their conservative values.

The Bush administration has been very Machiavellian in their attempt to keep the truth from America about most important issues. They have a very closed door policy when it comes to the media; they prefer to keep all information to themselves so they may lie and twist the facts to suit their needs.

Our country is tired of the
