Personally, I don't feel a presidential candidate should have to reveal his or her medical records.
I am not American but I do know that President Lincoln had several nervous breakdowns over the situations he was facing. There has been more than one president who has had a physical crippling disability and probably there have been others whose personal health was less than perfect.
As long as a candidate is not dying in the immediate future I can't believe that this would be any problem for the American people. There are many people on the planet that have debilatating illness who produce great results. There are people on the face of the earth who have affective disorders and keep on rising in life. There are all kinds of illness and disease and short comings that hold people back in their own worlds but it is my belief that individuals learn how to compensate for their shortcomings and move forward without abandonment.
It isn't necessary for the general public to know of a Presidents short sided abilities. But I do beleive that a good president would surround himself with the people who could compensate for his lackings.
If we start getting into each and everyone's medical records believe me the press would have a hay day on what they would find out. the elections are about doing a job and not about everyone's little or big idiosyncracy of health. I think it would be pretty obvious if a person was insane or totally incompetent to present himself or herself to the public.
There are alot of odd ducks in this world doing great things, just take a look at Albert Einsten, I would have taken him for a stranger than fiction person is I saw him walking down the street. And in some ways he probably was as strange as one gets as his mind was so focused on his E=MC square business that he probably never even thought to change his underwear but everyone who knew him held him in highest respect and regard. Today, if you find out a person doesn't change their underwear we call them deficient or phsychophrenic or what ever medical term is allowed for a person who doesn't take much personal interest in themselves.
Leaders have a lot of input from the accumulation of intelligence in their world and they don't rely 100 percent on their mental accuracy but on the expertise of many in government. So what does it matter if they have a short coming there are other people in this world who are capable and willing and able to pick up the slack.
We are all "tinder to sin" and that is a short coming in itself. So why a need to get a positive medical report. Other things on the agenda could be more damaging than health issues. Who knows from one day to the next how anyone is going to fare as President?
Go with what you got at the moment and hope the ship sails with the strong wind of the public's pleasure.
