How to prevent a cat from catching squirrels

Cats Chasing Squirrels huh?, well what about Squirrels chasing Cats!

It all started 7 days ago. I was approached by my husband who told me that a squirrel chased my cat in the house. I wasn't sure that I heard him right, and as I thought about it after he left. I was sure that I heard him tell me that a squirrel chased my cat in the house. So I had to put this new revelation to a test.

I live on the third floor of an apartment building in Brooklyn, New York. All of my windows are in the front and this particular window was my bedroom window where our fire escape is.
Do because I thought I heard my husband wrong, I picked up our cat and put him on the fire escape. I imagined that if the squirrel really chased my cat, my cat would be afraid to go back on the fire escape. I held the cat on the fire escape for a minute. It was a night and the cat didn't seem to have any fear. However, I did notice that the cat was looking at something, but I didn't give much thought to what. Well all of a sudden, I saw this greay furry thing run toward my cat. My cat said "swoosh" and was gone. I couldn't believe what I saw. Then I got mad for two reasons. First, because the squirrel chased my cat, and second, because it scared me too!

I went and got a stick. My plan was to knock the squirrel out. But the squirrel was too fast. Even when I tried to close my window, the squirrel acted like he wanted to come in. I finally got the window closed and left it closed for a few days. The cat didn't come in the room for a few days either. Finally yesterday, I opened up the window again thinking that the squirrel was gone. And, for the day he must have been, because the cat was back and forth on the fire escape - no problems. But last night, the cat ran off the fire escape again, and I saw that squirrel behind him. I was shocked. I've learned that squirrels will live in someone's attic or someplace that isn't very busy. I have never heard of squirrels in broad daylight attempt to come in the busy places of a home where people live. And, I have especially never heard of a squirrel chasing a cat. I've even gone to the internet, looking for information on such a case - none! There's articles about dogs chasing cats, dogs chasing squirrels and even cats chasing squirrels, but nothing even remotely about Squirrels chasing cats.

The only sense I can make out of this is, It's a New York City Squirrel and our squirrels even know how to cross the streets!

Now, what do you make of that?
