Save on groceries

Everybody can save a little on groceries if they just make a list and stick to it. You can eat and be full if you plan to have a main course in the evening such as spaghetti, chili, country fried round steak or just about any of the medium priced meats.

When you plan to buy groceries, make and list for a week. This will organized your thinking better and you can focus on the cheaper brands. Try not to buy groceries when you're hungry and keep your self from just picking up things that only you want to eat.

It's alright to forget a few things, after all you can come back if you need to. Stay away from package food unless you need something for a filler say for lunch. Forget the extras or at least limit it to one the whole family will like. I hate to say, but you can peal your own french fries. Try to pick something everyone will enjoy eating.

If you opt to eat out, try some of the cheaper places like Wendy's, Krystal, or Sonic. They have good food that is cheap. Stay away from snack foods completely. Look for items on sale, but don't over buy the product. Try not to spend a lot of time in the store. Get in quick and get out quick. Don't spend time wondering about what would be good and be aware of the total price of the things you have in your basket and don't go over budget even if it means putting something back on the shelf.

If your husband or children go along tell them not to pick up things they want to eat. chicken is good and cheap and deli meat is a little expensive but it is deliciously fresh. Cheese is good for snacks like cheese toast, grilled cheese and sandwiches. Alternate cheaper foods as you find them in the store. Things like sardines, chicken livers and bologna make good meal and they're cheap. You can also buy just a half a gallon of milk for cooking and supplement your family with vitamins. Of course if you have the money, treat yourself to your favorite food.
